यूग्राम असॉल्ट राइफल को कई कारणों से शक्तिशाली माना जाता है, जिसमें इसकी कैलिबर, रेंज और डिज़ाइन शामिल हैं:

कैलिबर।

इसे जनवरी 2024 में भारतीय सशस्त्र बलों द्वारा इस्तेमाल की जाने वाली पुरानी इंसास राइफल को बदलने के लिए लॉन्च किया गया था। उग्रम को 4 किलोग्राम से कम वजन वाली राइफल के लिए भारतीय सेना के जनरल स्टाफ गुणात्मक आवश्यकता (जीएसक्यूआर) को पूरा करने के लिए डिज़ाइन किया गया है।

इस राइफल में 20 राउंड की मैगजीन है, यह एकल और पूर्ण स्वचालित मोड में फायर कर सकती है, तथा इसकी प्रभावी रेंज 500 मीटर (1,640 फीट) है।

यूग्राम दुनिया भर के कई सशस्त्र बलों में सेवारत नवीनतम एके- और एआर-प्रकार की राइफलों के बराबर है, स्वदेशी असॉल्ट राइफल को सशस्त्र बलों में शामिल किए जाने से पहले आंतरिक परीक्षण, स्वीकृति परीक्षण और उपयोगकर्ता परीक्षणों की एक श्रृंखला से गुजरना है।

परीक्षण में हथियार से बिना रुके कई राउंड फायर किए जाएंगे ताकि इसकी सटीकता और स्थिरता का मूल्यांकन किया जा सके।

India Unveils New ‘Ugram’ Indigenous Assault Rifle

India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has launched the country’s new, domestically-built assault rifle for the armed forces, paramilitary, and state police.

The Ugram assault rifle is considered powerful for a number of reasons, including its caliber, range, and design: 

Caliber.

The Ugram uses a 7.62x51 mm caliber round, which is more powerful than the 5.56 mm INSAS rifle that is commonly used by the Indian armed forces. 

Range.

The Ugram has an effective range of 500 meters, which is about the length of five football fields. 

Weight.

The Ugram weighs less than 4 kilograms, (8.8 pounds)which helps soldiers move around more easily. 

Design.

The Ugram is based on the latest AK and AR-type rifles, and has a rivet-free design that makes it sturdy. It also has a user-friendly design that makes it easier to control and handle. 

It was developed and manufactured with private industry partner Dvipa Armour India Private Limited.

It was launched in January 2024 to replace the aging INSAS rifle used by the Indian Armed Forces. The Ugram is designed to meet the Indian Army's General Staff Qualitative Requirement (GSQR) for a rifle that weighs less than 4 kg.

The rifle has a 20-round magazine, can fire in single and fully automatic modes, and has an effective range of 500 meters (1,640 feet).

The Ugram is comparable to the latest AK- and AR-type rifles in service with many armed forces worldwide,
The indigenous assault rifle is scheduled to undergo a series of internal testing, acceptance trials, and user trials before being inducted into the armed forces.

the trial will see the weapon fire numerous rounds without stopping to evaluate its accuracy and consistency.

The Ugram is being tested at various weather and geographic conditions. A board of army officers will be constituted to accept the rifle, and any non-compliances found during the tests will be addressed.

The rifle is effective for 500 metres and the weight of the rifle including the magazine is less than 4 kg. It is a completely indigenous rifle.”

Is Ugram better than AK 47?

This latest Ugram Assault rifle ha a 7.62 mm bore (same as AK-47), change from 5.56 mm bore INSAS rifle. With 500 meters firing range, Ugram assault rifle surpassed INSAS (400 meters) and AK-47 (350 meters).
